Legal Practice Director
Peter is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia.
He holds the degrees of BA. LLB (Hons) and BCL. He is a Qld Law Society accredited specialist with expertise in the commercial and litigious areas of legal practice. His special areas of interest are Aviation Law, Tourism & Travel Law and Compensation Law. Peter has been growing Carter Capner Law as a successful small business for more than 20 years and has a practical understanding the legal and commercial needs of people operating in the business sector. He was a foundation National Councillor, the inaugural Queensland President and National President of the Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA). Peter is a member of the Queensland Law Society (QLS) and served in 1998-1999 on its Specialist Accreditation Board.
He is a former director of the Civil Justice Foundation of Australia. As a long-standing member of the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (ALAANZ) and he served as National Councillor and Queensland Chair of that association. He is also a member of the Lawyer-Pilot Bar Association. He is a regular contributor to legal journals and speaker at legal conferences. He also holds a single engine private pilot’s licence with command instrument rating.
In 2012 his work, Bust: Queensland’s post-GFC property collapse as played out in the courtroom was published. Peter is also the principal author & editor of Take the law… on-line blog to which he has posted more than 500 legal case summaries since 2010.
David Shannon is an immensely experienced compensation lawyer having graduated from the University of Queensland law School to practice for more than 30 years across all compensation regimes in Qld. His specialisation for more than 15 years of that time has been public and private compensation as well as insurance payouts.
Having acted for both insurers and claimants, he brings a unique perspective to the handling of claims and litigation and strategies to procure the best results for our clients.
Outside of work avid is a keen football sports fan and surfer on the weekend.
Sam is admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a lawyer. Sam holds a Bachelors of Laws and Bachelors of Business, from the Queensland University of Technology.
Sam joined Carter Capner Law with prior experience in litigation and professional negligence with a national law firm.
He conducts an extensive compensation law practice for Queensland, interstate and international clients.
Out-of-hours pursuits are waterpolo, open water swimming and collecting vinyl records
Govinda Le Guinio
Govinda joined Carter Capner Law in 2017. Before joining CCL, he worked for a boutique law firm and then a national law firm.
He was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court in 2003, and holds both a Bachelor of Laws LLB (Honours) and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences.
Govinda is passionate about helping people obtain access to justice, especially people who find themselves in difficult circumstances through the fault of someone else. His wide ranging compensation law practice commands clients from all over Queensland.
He is a member of the Queensland Law Society and Australian Lawyers Alliance, and is also fluent in French.
Outside of work he enjoys playing the guitar and keeping fit. An avid runner, hehas completed many community fun runs.
Commercial Litigation Lawyer
Michael joined Carter Capner Law in January 2013, having previously worked for a specialist insurance law firm.
During his studies, Michael enjoyed living abroad in Norway for a year where he developed an enthusiasm for snowboarding.
Michael is committed to providing an impact for clients and prides himself on keeping them well informed about strategy and progress.
A sports enthusiast, Michael keeps a close watch on the progress of local sporting talent and is a long-suffering Tottenham Hotspur supporter.
Lauren is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and holds an LLB from the University of Southern Queensland.
She joined Carter Capner Law in November 2017. Her practice includes Total and Permanent Disablement claims; Sickness & Accident insurance and Income Protection compensation.
Lauren has a fervent interest in all things food related and has eaten her way around 18 countries so far. On the weekends she enjoys baking, Yum Cha with her partner and playing with their two dogs.
Debbie has over 20 years experience in Conveyancing – residential, commercial, off-the-plan and business transactions. Although Debbie graduated with a law degree in 2011, she has chosen to continue with her paralegal career. She is a Commissioner for Declarations, therefore is able to witness and certify formal documents.
Debbie’s primary area of practice with Carter Capner Law is residential sale and purchase contracts, and she is passionate about the best outcomes for clients and believes in proactive communication.
Mark joined the team in October 2017. He has a strong background in accounts management, and also has his certificates in fitness.
Digital Communications & Systems Manager
Heinz joined Carter Capner Law in 2005. He brings a strong graphic design background to the Marketing & Public Relations team and is responsible for the artwork and design of client communications, as well as managing the data systems the team uses in their daily activities.
Jasmyn joined Carter Capner Law in April 2008. She obtained a Diploma in Business in 2010 in order to provide further assistance to clients. Jasmyn's primary area of practice is personal injuries, and her aim is to assist in achieving the best outcomes for clients.
Amy Leeson joined Carter Capner Law in March 2013. She has completed a Diploma in Justice Administration. She has had previous roles with high customer service skills. Outside work, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
She loves to travel and would like to visit many destinations all over the world.
Bridgette joined Carter Capner Law in 2017 with over four years experience in a legal office, primarily in litigation.
Outside of work Bridgette enjoys travelling, seeing live music, memes and is a big animal lover.
Jazmin joined Carter Capner Law in April 2018 bringing over 5 years experience in compensation recovery from working with a national firm.
Her passion is to help badly-done-by clients get justice with thoroughly researched and prepared compensation claims. She thrives on expanding her knowledge and is currently undertaking her associate law degree.
In her spare time Jazmin loves cooking, spending time at the beach and attending trivia nights with her friends.
Kate joined Carter Capner in July 2018. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Government and International Relations. Outside of work Kate enjoys travelling, discovering new cuisines and spending time with her friends and family.
Motivation & Team Building Coach
Chris started working with Carter Capner Law in January 2004. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Acupuncture and a Certificate IV in Fitness. Chris is a licensed massage therapist, Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coach and Level 1 Karate Coach. Chris brings a wealth of experience in motivation and team building having competed in triathlons for 10 years, taught self defence in primary schools and made Queensland teams for karate. Chris has appeared on the Great South East demonstrating karate.Chris provides services to a number of industries including construction, finance and accounting, law, health and master athletics. Chris conducts team building advertures and seminars on health and fitness.
Chris is a keen surfer with 25 years experience!
