Cruise Line Gambling Practices ‘Immoral’

An Australian tourism lawyer says recent accounts from P&O Cruise passengers of being encouraged to gamble and prevented from disembarking due to casino debts are “alarming.”

On May 6, a man reportedly jumped overboard the P&O Pacific Adventure after losing thousands of dollars at the ship’s casino.

Providing free alcohol, offering free cruises to those who gamble more, and allowing automatic credit are all examples of egregious conduct,” said Carter Capner Law director Peter Carter. “Most would agree that this is immoral and unconscionable.”
