Carter Capner Lawyers in Brisbane is representing the Bramich family and the other families believed to have fallen victim to Dr Patel.

Managing partner Peter Carter called on the state government to fast-track compensation for families affected by medical complications caused by the alleged incompetence of Dr Patel.

“At least one death is directly related to the events that have been recently exposed and a coronial inquiry also needs to be established as soon as possible,” Mr Carter said.

“It is clear there was at the very least shoddy administration if not medical incompetence and that this has caused serious injury and worsening of medical conditions for many patients.”

He said families requested Mr Nuttall waive the Civil Liability Act.

A public meeting will be held from 6pm on Thursday, April 14 at the Brothers Sports Club.

Mr Nuttall said any recommendation of action against Dr Patel would be a decision by the Chief Health Officer, not the Minister or the Director-General.
