This week saw the resolution of another passenger claim arising out of the May 2005 Transair Metroliner crash in which 15 occupants were killed when it smashed into mountains on approach to Lockhart River airstrip in far North Queensland.
The 24 February the trial date for Banks v Lessbrook Pty Ltd has been vacated following a settlement on confidential terms with a notice of discontinuance to be filed. In August 2010 Trad Thornton was awarded the maximum allowable under current law of $500,000 for his fiance’s death in the crash.

Several other claims have been finalised. Court records show that there are still further claims by surviving dependants to be resolved.

Several dependants of deceased passengers still have claims that are being pursued in the US against the component manufacturer, Honeywell.
