A 20-year-old Australian woman has been killed in a jet ski crash in Phuket Thailand over the weekend.

Emily Collie was holidaying with her partner Tommy Keating when they decided to hire a jet ski each.

Reports state that the pair were jet-skiing at Kata Beach when the sun reflected off the water and they were unable to see where they were going, resulting in the pair colliding.

Ms Collie was pulled from the water and attended to by lifeguards until paramedics arrived and transferred her to the local hospital. She was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Mr Keating, will face a charge of reckless driving causing death,” police lieutenant Patiwat Yodkhwan said yesterday.
Mr Keating was seen breaking down in the back of the ambulance.

Tommy has since taken to Facebook to share his touching tribute to his girlfriend. He called her his “beautiful girl”, and stated “I love you so much Emily and I wish I could just bring you back into my arms.” “I’m so broken and I know I’ll never, never be able to mend. “You were such an inspiration to myself and many others! The most beautiful girl I’ve ever met! Inside and out!”

Ms Collie’s family has also spoken out saying her death has left them devastated. “Emily was our princess, everything shined bright when she was around. She was the most caring person and deeply loved her family more than anything in the world,” they said.

“She was looking forward to celebrating her 21st birthday this year and completing her pharmacy degree. “The family would like to thank everyone for the love and support during this difficult time. “She left a hole in our hearts.”
