Dramatic footage has emerged of a plane crashing into flames after the aircraft overshot the runway, leaving five occupants dead and one seriously injured. The cargo plane, operated by Aerosucre, was en route to Bogota but shortly after departing from German Olano Airport the aircraft struggled to gain altitude.

Footage taken from a motorbike rider shows the Boeing 727 tilting to one side and veering off the runway during takeoff. The aircraft crashed at around 5:23pm in a field outside Puerto Carreno in Eastern Colombia, close to the border of Venezuela.

Emergency services arrived at the scene, just 10 miles from German Olano Airport, and transported the only survivor from the crash to San Juan de Dios Hospital to be treated. Those that were killed included the captain, co-pilot, flight engineer, dispatcher and forklift operator. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the crash. This comes just weeks after a plane carrying 77 passengers, including a football team, crashed near Medellin airport in Colombia.
