The pilot, a 73-year-old family friend, was performing a memorial flight to scatter ashes. Despite fine weather conditions, the glider encountered difficulties that led to the fatal accident. Emergency services responded promptly, but despite their efforts, both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is under extensive investigation by Victoria Police and the state’s gliding association to ascertain the precise cause of this heartbreaking event.**
