Circumstances:

On September 6, 2025, a Robinson R22 helicopter was involved in an agricultural mustering accident approximately 100 kilometres north of Cloncurry, Queensland.

While manoeuvring at low altitude during cattle mustering operations, the helicopter’s tail rotor struck a tree. The impact caused the aircraft to lose control and subsequently collide with terrain.

The sole pilot sustained serious injuries in the crash and was attended to by emergency responders. The aircraft was substantially damaged as a result of the impact.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) confirmed the occurrence and is investigating the factors that contributed to the loss of control.
