As a precaution, the crew shut down the affected engine and elected to divert the flight to Sydney for safety and engineering inspection. The aircraft landed without further incident.

No injuries to passengers or crew were reported. The aircraft did not sustain damage and was later cleared for maintenance checks.

The ATSB has been notified and is reviewing the occurrence as an in-flight systems-related incident.
