Incident Overview
A 25-year-old man has died following a serious two-vehicle crash on Coral Bay Road in Western Australia on Sunday morning, 28 July 2025. The crash occurred in the Lydon area, approximately 160km east of Coral Bay.

Injuries/Fatalities

  • Deceased: 25-year-old male driver of the Toyota Hilux, died after being transported to Coral Bay Nursing Post
  • Injured:
    • 25-year-old female passenger of the Hilux – sustained minor injuries
    • 50-year-old female driver of the Volkswagen – taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Crash Description
WA Police confirmed that the Toyota Hilux and Volkswagen T-Cross collided on Coral Bay Road around 9:30am. The Hilux driver was critically injured and later died at the Coral Bay Nursing Post. His passenger sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen was seriously but not critically injured.

Road and Traffic Impacts
An 8-kilometre section of Coral Bay Rd was closed between Minilya-Exmouth Rd and Cardabia Rd. The road has since reopened with reduced speed limits as investigators remain at the scene.

Investigation
Major Crash investigators are examining the scene and circumstances leading to the collision. The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.

Witnesses/Appeals
WA Police have appealed for any witnesses or those with dashcam footage of the area around the time of the crash to come forward.
