Incident Overview
A woman and a toddler have died after the vehicle they were travelling in struck a tree and burst into flames on Hat Head Road in Hat Head, on the NSW Mid North Coast. The crash occurred at approximately 9:40 am on Friday, July 11, 2025. Emergency crews extinguished the blaze and found the bodies of a woman, believed to be in her 20s, and a child, believed to be around two years old, inside the burned vehicle.

Injuries/Fatalities

  • Fatalities:
    • A woman, believed to be in her 20s, was found deceased inside the vehicle.
    • A child, believed to be approximately two years old, also died in the vehicle.
  • Other Injuries:
    • No additional injuries were reported.

Emergency Response
NSW Police and Fire and Rescue crews attended the scene after receiving reports of a car fire following a crash. Firefighters extinguished the flames and discovered the victims inside. A crime scene was established, and investigations commenced at the site.

Investigation
NSW Police have launched an Investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Focus areas include:

  • The speed and trajectory of the vehicle prior to impact
  • Any mechanical or environmental factors contributing to the crash
  • The timeline and cause of the vehicle fire

A report will be prepared for the coroner. The victims have not yet been formally identified.
