Incident Overview
A serious wedding day crash in the NSW Hunter Valley has left a groom and several groomsmen injured after their minibus veered off the road and rolled multiple times. The incident occurred just minutes before reaching the wedding venue.

- Single vehicle: Toyota HiAce minibus (taxi service)
Injuries/Fatalities
- Injured: John Barrett (groom), critically injured with limb injuries – now in serious but stable condition
- 60-year-old male passenger – critical head injuries
- 73-year-old male driver and other groomsmen (aged in their 50s) also sustained injuries
- Three discharged; three remain in hospital, including the groom
Crash Description
The minibus, carrying the groom and his groomsmen, rolled approximately seven times down an embankment along a winding section of Mount View Road, just minutes from Bistro Molines – the intended wedding venue. The cause of the crash is under police investigation.
Emergency Response
- NSW Ambulance and emergency services coordinated a complex extraction and rescue operation
- One patient took 45 minutes to extricate from the vehicle
Investigation
NSW Police have launched a formal investigation. Seatbelt use and road conditions are among the potential contributing factors being reviewed.
