Incident Overview
A serious two-vehicle collision involving a truck and a car occurred during peak morning traffic on the Hume Highway near Wilton, NSW. The crash left a driver trapped and caused widespread disruption to southbound traffic.

Injuries/Fatalities
- Injured: Male driver in his 20s, suffered head injuries, transported by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition
- Fatalities: None reported
Emergency Response
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) deployed firefighters to free the trapped driver. NSW Ambulance paramedics were on standby and provided immediate treatment at the scene before hospital transport.
Traffic Disruption
- All southbound lanes of the Hume Highway were closed during the rescue operation
- Delays extended beyond Menangle as vehicles diverted or used shoulders to pass
- All lanes have since reopened, but residual delays were expected
Witnesses/Appeals
Authorities have not issued a formal public appeal, but motorists were advised by Transport NSW to allow additional travel time and use caution when driving through the area.
