Introduction
A man has died following a workplace incident at a warehouse in Heatherbrae, in the NSW Hunter region. Emergency crews were called on Wednesday afternoon, but despite desperate efforts, the worker could not be saved.

Details of the Incident
Emergency services attended a warehouse on Heather Street, Heatherbrae, in the Port Stephens area at around 1:50pm. The worker, believed to be in his 30s, suffered serious injuries while on site.

Paramedics treated him at the scene but were unable to revive him. He has not yet been formally identified.

Police and Regulatory Response
NSW Police confirmed a crime scene has been established and investigations are underway into the circumstances of the accident.

SafeWork NSW inspectors were dispatched immediately. A spokesperson confirmed:
“SafeWork NSW inspectors are on site and are making enquiries.”

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Context of Recent Workplace Deaths
The Heatherbrae tragedy comes just two days after another workplace fatality in New South Wales. On Monday, a 57-year-old truck driver was fatally struck by a forklift while working at Menzies Aviation’s warehouse in Matraville, Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

In that case, the driver sustained critical chest injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both NSW Police and SafeWork NSW are also investigating that incident.

Conclusion
With two workplace fatalities reported in NSW in the space of a week, regulators are under pressure to ensure compliance and safety in warehouse and logistics operations. The Heatherbrae death will now be subject to coroner’s findings, which may carry implications for both workplace practices and industry oversight.
