Introduction

A severe incident at a construction site in Newstead, Brisbane, has resulted in critical injuries to two workers, casting a spotlight on workplace safety in high-risk environments.

Details of the Incident

The accident occurred around 12:10 PM on Tuesday at a construction site located on Wyandra St in Newstead. The two men were reportedly struck by a metal object, leading to severe injuries. One worker sustained life-threatening head injuries, while the other suffered significant chest injuries.

Emergency Response and Medical Care

Emergency services, including multiple paramedic teams, responded swiftly to the scene. The injured workers were provided immediate medical attention and were subsequently transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. One is in critical condition, and the other is stable.

Investigation and Safety Measures

WorkSafe Queensland has been notified and is expected to conduct a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the accident and review safety protocols at the construction site. The aim is to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the safety of all workers.
