Introduction

A 29-year-old drilling contractor has tragically lost his life in a workplace accident at a remote mineral exploration site in Western Australia’s northern Goldfields. The incident has prompted an investigation by WorkSafe WA.

Investigation and Response

WorkSafe WA inspectors are traveling to the site to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. WA Police are also involved and will prepare a report for the coroner.

Saturn Metals, the exploration company operating the site, has expressed their condolences and suspended exploration activities at Apollo Hill until further notice. They are providing counseling to personnel affected by the tragedy.

WorkSafe Statement

WorkSafe Commissioner Sally North offered condolences to the worker’s family, friends, and colleagues. She assured the community that WorkSafe will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
