He holds the degrees of BA. LLB (Hons) and BCL. He is a Qld Law Society accredited specialist with expertise in the commercial and litigious areas of legal practice. His special areas of interest are Aviation Law, Tourism & Travel Law and Compensation Law. Peter Carter has been growing Carter Capner Law as a successful small business for more than 20 years and has a practical understanding of the legal and commercial needs of people operating in the business sector.
He was a foundation National Councillor, the inaugural Queensland President and National President of the Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA). Peter Carter is a member of the Queensland Law Society (QLS) and served in 1998-1999 on its Specialist Accreditation Board.ca
He is a former director of the Civil Justice Foundation of Australia. As a long-standing member of the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (ALAANZ) and he served as National Councillor and Queensland Chair of that association. He is also a member of the Lawyer-Pilot Bar Association. He is a regular contributor to legal journals and speaker at legal conferences. He also holds a single-engine private pilot’s licence with a command instrument rating.
In 2012 his work, Bust: Queensland’s post-GFC property collapse as played out in the courtroom was published. Peter Carter is also the principal author & editor of Take the law… on-line blog to which he has posted more than 500 legal case summaries since 2010.
