Introduction
On the evening of September 28, 2025, Enchantment of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean vessel, carried out a critical rescue in the western Caribbean Sea. The ship diverted while re-routing around Hurricane Humberto and Tropical Storm Imelda, spotting a makeshift raft with approximately 12 individuals in distress off the coast of Mexico.

Details of the Rescue

Initial Sighting:

  • The ship’s bridge crew identified lights signaling distress from a makeshift raft that appeared unstable and in danger of breaking apart.
  • The sighting occurred during dusk, when visibility was diminishing, increasing the urgency of the response.

Rescue Operation:

  • Upon confirming the emergency, the crew launched a tender boat to reach the raft.
  • The 12 individuals aboard the raft were safely transferred onto Enchantment of the Seas.
