Introduction
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced another round of cruise cancellations, this time affecting 35 sailings across four of its popular ships: Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Encore, and Norwegian Joy. These cancellations, attributed to “fleet deployments,” impact voyages scheduled between November 2025 and April 2026.
Details of the Incident
The cancellations include:
- Norwegian Bliss: 9 sailings canceled, including voyages from Los Angeles and a repositioning cruise to Miami.
- Norwegian Breakaway: 10 short Bahamas cruises from Port Canaveral in early 2026.
- Norwegian Encore: 7 voyages, including roundtrip cruises between Miami and Los Angeles, potentially indicating itinerary swaps with Norwegian Bliss.
- Norwegian Joy: 9 itineraries canceled, including a 23-night repositioning cruise from Port Canaveral to Seattle. However, Norwegian Joy is still expected to offer Alaska sailings in May 2026.
Operational Context
NCL is offering affected passengers full refunds, including cruise fares, taxes, fees, and pre-paid expenses. Additionally, passengers will receive a 10% future cruise credit. These cancellations follow a previous wave of 38 cancellations announced earlier this year, suggesting significant adjustments to NCL’s fleet deployment strategies.
