Introduction
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced the cancellation of 38 cruises across three of its ships: Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Jewel, and Norwegian Star. The cancellations affect sailings scheduled between November 2025 and April 2026, impacting a variety of itineraries in the Caribbean, South America, Antarctica, and around Africa.
Details of the Incident
The cancellations include:
- Norwegian Jewel: All sailings from Tampa, Florida, between November 23, 2025, and April 5, 2026, featuring 5- to 14-day Caribbean cruises.
- Norwegian Dawn: Longer itineraries (12 to 21 days) scheduled between November 2, 2025, and April 12, 2026, including routes around Africa, the Persian Gulf, and Singapore.
- Norwegian Star: The entire South America and Antarctica season, scheduled between November 20, 2025, and April 14, 2026.
NCL also canceled a 14-night South Pacific sailing on Norwegian Sun scheduled for August 7, 2025, and two short cruises on Norwegian Getaway in August 2026 due to a full-ship charter.
Operational Context
While the specific reasons for the cancellations remain undisclosed, NCL has stated that the ships will be redeployed. Affected passengers will receive a full refund and a 10% future cruise credit. Travel agents with bookings paid in full will retain their commissions.
