Introduction
On June 27, 2024, Celebrity Infinity docked at Port Kavala, Greece, to disembark the body of a 45-year-old Indonesian crew member who had been found deceased in his cabin during the ship’s voyage.
Details of the Incident
The discovery of the crew member’s body was made while Celebrity Infinity was sailing between the Greek ports of Thessaloniki and Kavala. Upon arrival in Kavala, the deceased was transferred to Komotini for a medical examination and autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Operational Context
The incident occurred during Celebrity Infinity’s 7-day “Best of Greece Cruise,” which included stops at popular destinations such as Santorini, Kusadasi (Ephesus), Thessaloniki, and Mykonos. The ship continued its scheduled itinerary after disembarking the crew member’s body in Kavala. The circumstances surrounding the crew member’s death remain under investigation.
