Introduction
A 56-year-old man was medically evacuated from Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship on December 14, 2024. The U.S. Coast Guard conducted the airlift operation approximately 40 miles southeast of Miami, Florida.

Details of the Incident
The Coast Guard received a request for assistance after the passenger began experiencing severe abdominal pain. A helicopter crew from Air Station Miami was dispatched to the ship’s location. The man was hoisted from the Grandeur of the Seas and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was reportedly in stable condition.

Operational Context
The Grandeur of the Seas was on a 9-day Southern Caribbean cruise, roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, at the time of the incident. The medevac operation caused a minor disruption to the cruise itinerary, but the ship continued its voyage.
