Introduction
Carnival Luminosa passenger medevac operations were carried out after a 51-year-old woman developed symptoms consistent with a stroke while the ship was off the California coast.
What Happened
The medical emergency occurred on July 16, 2026, about 45 miles offshore of Humboldt Bay. A crew member requested urgent assistance after the passenger became unwell. The ship was operating in winds of around 40 mph and seas of 8 to 10 feet.
Response and Investigation
A U.S. Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Humboldt Bay hoisted the passenger from Carnival Luminosa and transported her to Mendocino Coast Hospital in Fort Bragg. Authorities later reported that she was in stable condition, and the ship resumed its scheduled itinerary. No deaths were reported.
