Circumstances:

During aerial mustering operations, a Robinson R22 Beta II collided with terrain at Limbunya Station, north-east of Buchanan and 54 nautical miles west of Kalkgurung, Northern Territory. The pilot passed away, and the helicopter was totalled.

A pilot was killed in a helicopter accident that occurred during mustering operations on a remote Northern Territory station.

Tuesday at 12:20 p.m., the accident involving a Robinson R22 helicopter was reported at Limbunya Station in the Northern Territory’s Victoria River region, close to the border with Western Australia.

NT Police reports that officers from the Yarralin and Kalkarindji stations attended the scene where the pilot’s death was confirmed.

Only he was present in the helicopter.

The helicopter was conducting routine mustering when it collapsed, according to a statement released Tuesday evening by helicopter charter company Top End Mustering.
