Circumstances:
A 4 seat Cessna 182 crashed in a weather-related accident at Fernvale en route from Roma killing all three on board on its second attempt to reach Archerfield in unfavourable weather. It turned back to Dalby to refuel after its first failed attempt to get under the cloud ceiling and the crash occurred as it attempted to stay clear of cloud in the face of oncoming rising terrain.
The accident might – upon investigation – prove to be an example of on of the most frequent causes of aircraft deaths in what is referred to in the industry as “pressing on regardless” when weather conditions dictate otherwise.
Four others lost their lives in light aircraft accidents in September, one in Victoria and two crashes in Queensland.
