Circumstances:

The aircraft departed Heck Field Airport at Norwell for a private flight. Shortly after take-off from runway 28, the Van’s RV-8A crashed into nearby bushland approximately 0.3 kilometres from the airfield.

Both occupants on board the aircraft were fatally injured. A post-impact fire developed, and the aircraft was destroyed.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the area was secured. Public reporting indicated that the circumstances leading to the accident had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
