Circumstances:

On August 14, 2025, a remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) sustained substantial damage during aerial videography operations near Perth Aerodrome, Western Australia. The incident occurred at approximately 17:00 local time, when the RPAS collided with a light post while manoeuvring in a survey flight profile.

Following the collision, the RPAS was rendered inoperable and was later recovered. There were no injuries or damage reported to persons or property other than the RPAS itself. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) was notified and confirmed the incident.

This occurrence highlights the risks associated with survey and videography flights in built-up or infrastructure-dense environments, where obstacles such as lighting structures pose a hazard to unmanned aircraft operations.
