Circumstances:
On 26th October 2023, a Robinson R66 Turbine with the registration VH-KFT met with a tragic accident when it crashed into the sea near Hawks Nest, NSW. The crash resulted in the loss of the pilot and his canine companion. Initial reports indicate the helicopter was en route from Cessnock Airport to Forster Airport when it disappeared from radar and subsequently crashed. Recovery efforts have found aircraft debris, confirming the grim outcome.
