Circumstances:

On July 1, 2025, a Robinson R22 helicopter was involved in an accident during aerial mustering operations approximately 46.8 km northwest of Anthony Lagoon in the Northern Territory. While manoeuvring at low altitude, the helicopter’s tail rotor struck a tree.
The impact caused the helicopter to lose control and subsequently come to rest in an inverted position. The aircraft sustained substantial damage. No fatalities or injuries were reported.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is conducting an investigation. Preliminary information confirms that the incident occurred during an agricultural operation and involved a low-altitude tail rotor strike with terrain contact.
