Circumstances:
**On April 16, 2024, an Aeropilot Legend 600 light plane encountered severe difficulties and crashed near Preston Beach, just south of Mandurah. The incident occurred around 1:55 pm, involving an 85-year-old pilot and his 72-year-old passenger. Remarkably, the plane’s parachute deployment system activated, significantly reducing the crash impact as it landed in a paddock. Both occupants sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. Emergency services, including St John Ambulance Paramedics and WA Police, responded promptly to the scene. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has indicated an investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the crash, which miraculously resulted in no serious injuries despite the total destruction of the aircraft.**
