Circumstances:

On 17th October 2023, a Jabiru LSA 55/3J experienced a challenging landing at Coldstream Airport (YCEM) in Victoria, Australia. During its approach to land on runway 17, the aircraft encountered variable winds of about 08 knots. As the plane neared its landing, a sudden cessation of headwind led to a slightly harder touchdown than anticipated. This caused the aircraft to veer off to the left of the bitumen runway, and onto the adjacent grass. Consequently, the left wheel of the aircraft ended up in a shallow ditch beside a taxi turn-off point. This action resulted in the aircraft’s nose pitching downwards, subsequently breaking the wooden propeller and causing damage to the front wheel. Fortunately, there were no property damages or injuries reported.
