Circumstances:

On June 18, 2025, a privately owned Cessna 310R II (registration VH-TBG), operated by Jandakot Flight Centre Pty Ltd, experienced a left main gear collapse during landing on runway 11 at Darwin International Airport in the Northern Territory, Australia. The aircraft veered off the runway following the collapse, sustaining minor damage.

The pilot, the sole occupant, had made an emergency call prior to landing due to an undercarriage issue. Emergency services were standing by at the airport to respond to the incident. Despite the gear failure and subsequent runway excursion, the pilot was not injured.

The incident occurred after the aircraft completed a flight from Bathurst Island Airport to Darwin. Investigators are expected to examine factors such as mechanical issues with the landing gear, maintenance history, and operational procedures to determine the cause of the collapse.

This incident highlights the importance of rigorous pre-flight checks and regular maintenance for aging aircraft like the 1975 Cessna 310R II, particularly when operating in remote regions like the Northern Territory.
