At Lake Macquarie Airport, a gyroplane was taking off with an instructor pilot and a student pilot on board. As the aircraft gained altitude, the instructor pilot observed an Extra EA 300L aircraft approaching and took evasive action to prevent a collision. After impacting the earth, the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
