Circumstances:
On November 5, 2025, an ultralight aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances on a rural property north of Hay, in the Riverina region of New South Wales.
The 39-year-old pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained critical injuries in the crash. He was initially treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital before being airlifted to a Melbourne hospital for advanced care. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Emergency services, including NSW Police, Fire and Rescue, and local paramedics, attended the scene following reports of the downed aircraft. The wreckage was found in an agricultural area. Preliminary details suggest the ultralight may have been engaged in private or agricultural-related flight activity.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) and NSW Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, while a report will be prepared for the coroner.
