Circumstances:

On July 30, 2025, an Aeroprakt A-22 Foxbat light aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances in a remote area north of Balranald, in southwest New South Wales. The aircraft was privately operated and carried only the pilot on board.
At approximately 14:00 local time, emergency services were alerted to a crash site on D-Block Road, about 130 km west of Hay. Responders arrived to find the aircraft destroyed and the pilot in a critical condition. Despite efforts by NSW paramedics, the pilot died at the scene.

The pilot has not been formally identified but is believed to have been in his 50s. A crime scene was established, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has confirmed that it will conduct an investigation into the cause of the accident. No information has been released regarding mechanical failure, weather conditions, or flight purpose at this stage.
