Circumstances:
The remotely piloted aircraft was conducting aerial surveying operations east of Thangool Aerodrome in Queensland. During the flight, the pilot became situationally unaware of the aircraft’s surroundings.
The RPAS subsequently collided with a tree and was destroyed. No injuries occurred as the aircraft was unmanned.
The ATSB was notified of the occurrence and recorded the accident as part of its monitoring of RPAS-related occurrences.
