Circumstances:

**During a routine descent towards Brisbane International Airport, a Boeing 737-800 encountered unexpected turbulence at approximately 9,000 ft, resulting in a serious injury to a cabin crew member. The incident, which occurred in clear skies and without prior warning, highlights the unpredictable nature of air travel. The cabin crew member was performing duties when the turbulence struck, leading to significant injuries. The aircraft itself sustained no damage, and no other injuries were reported among the passengers or crew. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is conducting a detailed investigation to understand the dynamics of the turbulence and to assess whether any additional safety measures could be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.**
