Circumstances:

The Air Canada flight AC33, a Boeing 777-233LR, was struck by a bird during the flight. Following engine shutdown at Sydney International Airport (SYD), the ground crew observed a bird strike and damage to the left-hand leading edge. Upon completion of the bird strike inspection, the left-hand No. 5 slat and associated flow air ducting needed to be replaced per AMM.

This incident was classified as an Accident by TSB Canada.
