Circumstances:

On June 28, 2025, a Bell 47G helicopter sustained substantial damage during a forced landing in a field approximately 51.1 km northwest of Waikerie, South Australia, while on a ferry positioning flight from YCVA to Renmark Airport.
While cruising, the pilot detected an uncommanded yaw accompanied by a high carburettor temperature indication. Shortly after, the engine failed. The pilot initiated a forced landing, managing to bring the helicopter down in open terrain without injury. However, the aircraft sustained substantial damage upon landing.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) launched an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings confirm the sequence of engine anomaly, loss of power, and off-airport landing.
