Incident Overview
A young man has been airlifted to hospital after his truck towing a horse float overturned on the Hume Highway in New South Wales’ Southern Highlands on Thursday afternoon, October 23, 2025.

Emergency services were called at approximately 1:30 pm to the section of highway between Sallys Corner Road and Penrose Forest Way at Sutton Forest, where the southbound truck had tipped and landed on its roof.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was trapped in the wreckage for about two hours before being freed by emergency crews. He was later airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition. The condition of the horses travelling in the float has not yet been confirmed.

Traffic disruptions affected both directions of the Hume Highway, with all southbound lanes and one northbound lane closed for several hours.
