On Friday afternoon, October 4, 2024, a 76-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at Owens Gap in NSW’s Upper Hunter Shire, located northwest of Newcastle.
Details of the Crash
The crash occurred around 3:55 PM on Bunnan Road. A car carrying three women was negotiating a right-hand bend when it collided with a utility vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The impact of the crash caused significant damage to both vehicles.
Fatality and Injuries
Tragically, the 76-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene. The driver of the car, a 53-year-old woman, and another female passenger, aged 39, were airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with serious injuries. The 27-year-old male driver of the ute and his 24-year-old female passenger were also taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

NSW Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Both drivers have undergone mandatory testing as part of the investigation. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information that could assist with their inquiries to come forward.
