Incident Overview

A single-vehicle rollover crash occurred in Balgo (Wirrimanu), a remote Aboriginal community 86km west of the Northern Territory border, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at approximately 4:50 PM. The crash resulted in critical injuries to one woman and injuries to four others.

Details of the Crash

A red Ford Territory SUV carrying five women was traveling east on Balgo Road when it left the roadway and rolled. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by WA Police.

Casualties and Injuries

A 23-year-old female passenger sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Darwin Hospital. A 51-year-old female passenger was also airlifted, to Broome Regional Hospital, with serious injuries. Three other women in the vehicle were taken to the Balgo clinic with minor injuries.

Police Investigation

WA Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
