Incident Overview
A serious two-vehicle crash occurred in Marayong, Sydney’s northwest, leaving a woman critically injured and a man hospitalized. The incident involved a black Honda colliding with an SUV driven by a supervised learner.
Details of the Marayong Crash
The collision happened on Richmond Road around 9:40 pm on Monday, September 2, 2024. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction towards Blacktown. Following the impact, the Honda struck a large gum tree, while the SUV came to rest on the opposite side of the road, approximately 50 meters away. Preliminary investigations suggest the SUV may have been clipped by the sedan.
The female passenger of the Honda sustained critical head injuries and was transported to Westmead Hospital. The male driver was also taken to the same hospital with internal injuries. Fortunately, the young female learner driver and her supervising male family member were unharmed.
Road Closure and Investigation
Richmond Road was temporarily closed in both directions between Breakfast Road and Love Street but has since reopened. Investigations into the exact cause of the crash are ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact Crime Stoppers.
Conclusion
This incident highlights the importance of road safety, particularly for learner drivers. We extend our thoughts to the injured woman and man and wish them a speedy recovery.
