Incident Overview
A 30-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl have died, and a young boy remains in intensive care following a serious crash in the remote Aboriginal community of Doomadgee, northwest Queensland, on Friday morning, November 7, 2025.

Emergency services were called to Doomadgee Road, approximately 400 kilometres north of Mount Isa, at around 6:30 am after reports that a vehicle had flipped and crashed.

Five people were inside the vehicle — the driver and four children. The driver, a woman from Cloncurry, was treated at the scene but died from her injuries. The 10-year-old girl, a passenger, was taken to Doomadgee Hospital where she was later declared deceased.

Two other passengers — a one-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl — were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while a four-year-old boy remains in critical condition.

Police confirmed that some of the children were located by members of the public, and two were taken directly to hospital by ambulance.

A 28-year-old Doomadgee man, known to the deceased and already known to police, was taken into custody shortly after the crash. He was in a second vehicle and is now assisting investigators.

A crime scene has been declared, with forensic and homicide detectives from Mount Isa, Brisbane, and Townsville assisting local police.

Police confirmed that the 28-year-old Doomadgee man taken into custody was known to the victims. Additional investigators have been deployed from Mount Isa, Brisbane, and Townsville to support the local team.

Community Impact
The incident has deeply affected the Doomadgee Aboriginal community, with local leaders and residents entering a period of Sorry Business to mourn the deaths.

Shops in the community have temporarily closed, and the Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council issued condolences on social media, urging residents to avoid Doomadgee Road while police continue investigations.
