A man has been charged following a fatal traffic crash in Raceview yesterday (September 6).

Forensic crash investigators charged a 45-year-old Raceview man with one count dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death whilst under the influence of liquor or a drug.

Police will allege around 10.30am, a 2009 blue Hyundai Getz was travelling west along Cascade Street when it left the road, striking a power pole and coming to rest in a driveway.

A 41-year-old Ipswich woman died at the scene and the 45-year-old man was treated for serious injuries and transported to hospital.

He is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today (September 7).
