Incident Overview
Police have charged a man following investigations into a fatal traffic crash at Bushland Beach in Townsville’s north. The collision occurred at a roundabout on Mount Low Parkway on 23 November 2025, involving a utility and two motorcycles. One motorcyclist died at the scene, while two others were injured. Charges have now been laid after a Forensic Crash Unit investigation.

Injuries/Fatalities
- Fatalities:
- 76-year-old South Townsville man — BMW motorcycle rider; declared deceased at the scene.
- Critical/Serious Injuries:
- 70-year-old South Townsville woman — BMW motorcycle passenger; transported to Townsville University Hospital with serious injuries.
- Other Injuries:
- 22-year-old Aitkenvale man — Kawasaki motorcycle rider; transported to Townsville University Hospital with minor injuries.
Emergency Response
- Police and emergency services attended the Mount Low Parkway roundabout.
- The BMW rider was declared deceased at the scene.
- Both injured riders/passengers were transported to Townsville University Hospital.
Police Investigation
The Forensic Crash Unit conducted an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
- Police allege the Mazda driver entered the roundabout at speed while under the influence of liquor and lost control.
- The 28-year-old Mount Low man has been charged with:
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and grievous bodily harm whilst adversely affected
- Driving without a driver’s licence
- Driving an unregistered vehicle
- Driving an uninsured vehicle
- Driving under the influence of liquor
- He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 18 February.
