Two men have been charged after a violent early-morning confrontation in Wagga Wagga that left a young woman critically injured. The incident began around 2:30am on Friday, 21 November, when a man and woman allegedly smashed the front window of a Glenfield Park home before fleeing on a motorbike. Police allege the homeowner pursued them in his vehicle towards Fernleigh Road in Ashmont, where he collided with the motorbike, causing both riders to fall. He then allegedly reversed and drove over the bike before leaving the scene. The 22-year-old woman suffered critical injuries and was transported to hospital, while the younger male rider sustained minor injuries.

Police allege the incident escalated from initial property damage to a retaliatory pursuit.

  • 18-year-old motorbike rider charged with destroying/damaging property and failing to wear a properly fitted helmet; granted conditional bail; due in Wagga Wagga Local Court on 28 January.
  • 53-year-old man charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, causing bodily harm by misconduct, failing to stop and assist after a crash causing grievous bodily harm, failing to provide particulars, and failing to keep a firearm safely; refused bail; due in Bail Division Court 5.
  • Police confirm both parties are known to each other and there is no ongoing public threat.
