A man in his 50s has died after his truck collided with an SUV before crashing into a unit at the Oxford Crest Retirement Village in Newtown, Toowoomba. The incident caused significant structural damage and prompted a major emergency response.

Injuries / Fatalities
- Deceased: Male truck driver, aged in his 50s, died at the scene
- Injured: Four occupants of the Nissan X-Trail sustained minor injuries; a woman inside the impacted retirement village unit treated for shock
Crash Description
Initial reports indicate the truck veered across a traffic island and collided with the Nissan X-Trail before mounting the curb and ploughing through a fence into the Oxford Crest Retirement Village. The impact destroyed part of the unit. Emergency services worked to free the truck driver, who was trapped in the wreckage for some time, but he could not be saved.
Road and Traffic Impacts
The incident occurred opposite the entrance to Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre and caused significant local disruption during emergency and investigative operations.
Investigation
The Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. The cause of the incident has not yet been determined.
Witnesses / Appeals
Police are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the truck prior to the collision to come forward.
