Incident Overview
A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a serious traffic crash in Garbutt, Queensland, involving a stolen vehicle on 14 July 2025. The crash, which saw a stolen silver Toyota Hilux collide with a white Mitsubishi Outlander, resulted in injuries and hospitalisation of several individuals.

Injuries/Fatalities
- Injured: Several occupants of the Mitsubishi Outlander sustained minor injuries and were transported to Townsville University Hospital
- Arrested: A 21-year-old Bushland Beach woman (passenger in Hilux) previously taken to hospital and charged
Crash Description
Initial investigations indicated the stolen Toyota Hilux collided with the Mitsubishi Outlander at an intersection in Garbutt. The Hilux had been reported stolen from Bohle Plains on 10 July. Following the crash, the occupants of the Hilux fled the scene on foot.
Charges and Arrest
Following continued investigations, police arrested a 15-year-old boy from Kirwan on 29 July. He is alleged to have been the driver of the Hilux. The boy has been charged with:
- 4 x Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
- 2 x Enter premises with intent
- 2 x Unlicenced driving
- 1 x Burglary
- 1 x Enter premises and commit indictable offence
- 1 x Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- 1 x Wearing a mask with intent to commit an indictable offence
- 1 x Obstruct police
He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Townsville Children’s Court on 7 August 2025.
Investigation
The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate the full circumstances of the crash and related offences.
Witnesses/Appeals
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash to come forward.
