Incident Overview
Three elderly people were hospitalised after two vehicles crashed head-on on the southern side of Sydney Harbour Bridge on Tuesday, 4 August 2026. NSW Ambulance said four people were involved, with one person declining assessment.

  • 72-year-old man: Chest injury; taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.
  • 76-year-old woman: Spinal injury; taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.
  • 88-year-old woman: Chest injury; taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.
  • All three hospitalised patients were reported to be in a stable condition.

Emergency Response
Emergency services attended after the crash was reported. Helicopter footage showed both vehicles with extensive front-end damage and a large emergency response around the scene.

Police Investigation
The 7NEWS report does not identify a police charge, final finding or determination of responsibility. The circumstances of the collision and any legal responsibility remain unconfirmed.

Community Impact
Three northbound lanes were closed after the crash and later reopened. Traffic remained heavy from the Anzac Bridge, along the Cahill Expressway over Circular Quay and through the Domain Tunnel. The Transport Management Centre reported some outbound bus services delayed by up to 20 minutes, with motorists and bus passengers advised to allow extra travel time.
